As the name suggest, these evaporators are the result of a combination of climbing and falling film evaporators. For any given building height, they enable doubling the length of the heat exchange tubes. There is also the possibility of evaporating a greater proportion of water out of the liquor, in a single pass.
The processed liquor can also be passed from any effect to the subsequent one without having to use transfer pumps.
